So, I was just fetching the tennis ball in the backyard, but when I brought it back to Daddy, he got very worried because there was all this red stuff coming out of my pretty front right paw. I wasn't sure why he was worried, but he called Mom and she came running and the two of them fussed over me (always a wonderdog thing).
Daddy wiped up the red stuff and Mom called the vet's emergency answering service. While talking with the on-call Pretty Lady Vet (PLV), Mom looked at my foot some more and then hung up.
I didn't catch a lot of what Mom said on the phone beyond "paw", "broken", and "do-claw". So I guess I'm supposed to do something with my claw. Or else I wasn't supposed to do something with my "don't-claw". I dunno. I was too busy running around, wagging my tail.
So Mom went out and came back with this white soft stuff that she wrapped around my pretty foot, hiding all the red fur, and then taped it on with special "sir-Jick-Al" tape. I was very interested in undoing all of her handiwork and kept pulling on the edges. Daddy said I might need Duck-Tape but he didn't have any.
I'm leaving it alone now, mostly (and we're getting a lot of practice at "leave it", Mom says), but it's very weird to have something covering up part of my foot. I don't like it -- at all. I guess it has to stay on until I go see my PLV on Monday. That's what the PLV on the phone told Mom, anyway.
So now I'm going to go nap with Daddy and see if I can get this thing off without him noticing. And if I can't, and I get bored, I'll just stick my tongue in his ear. He likes those kissies so much, he jumps right up!
PS -- When Mom came home from doing some work today, she found Daddy making jillity equipment in the kitchen! He said to her, "It's your fault. You left me all alone." I love my daddy! He's the bestest.

Oh no, I hope your paw gets better quick Piper!
If you be real sneaky and try real hard, I bet you can get that bandage off!
